ABOUT THE SINGER

Derek Reed is a charismatic singer and living tribute artist, who masterfully brings to life the music of the 1940s through the 1980s. His sentimental performances tell stories that help capture the timeless character of legends like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, Conway Twitty, Elvis Presley, and many more. With a voice that echoes the golden era of music, Derek takes audiences to bygone years with a song and a story. Performing across Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware, Derek has delighted audiences with his authentic renditions and undeniable charm.

His current journey in music began in 2015 when he and three friends entered their first school talent show together. They coined themselves “The Jr. Jersey Boys” after watching the 2014 film “Jersey Boys,” based on the career of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The group continued singing in annual talent shows until 2018, when Derek decided to enter as a soloist. The reasons being his voice had begun to deepen, and he had been in a special music course that required each student record a song. It was in the course that he decided to try singing an Elvis song, and as a joke, bought an Elvis costume for the act. When it was time for the school talent show, Derek decided to put that costume to good use, entering the contest, and unbeknownst to him, starting his current journey as a singer in the public realm.

It was after that first talent show as Elvis that his great-aunt asked him to sing at the local senior center. Equipped only with a CD player and half a dozen karaoke tracks, he sang the few Elvis songs he knew. (The director of the center thought he needed a microphone, and so provided him with a kitchen ladle). Through word of mouth from his first audiences, Derek began getting bookings in the immediate area.

Since 2018, Derek has travelled across southern Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and New York, performing for thousands of people. His current goal is to travel the country, and world, sharing the music he loves with people who enjoy the singers of the past.

As a result, Derek heard lots of songs from the 1950s-1970s, such as: Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Dion and the Belmonts, Elvis Presley, The Beach Boys, The Everly Brothers, and many more!
